We are playing the Orchestra Pit in Buxton, Derbyshire on the 27th November to celebrate the new album release. Free entry before 9, £2 after that. Doors are 7:30. I’ve just finished working on a poster for the gig – a two-colour reduction linocut. I’ve got a new toy – it’s a ‘Yamaha MT8X Multitrack Cassette Recorder’ or so it proudly boasts on itself. I’ve not got to grips with it yet but I’ve got the fundamentals so I’ve managed to go through a couple of songs already. Here’s one I did today called Stop Spinning The Birdcage. Now if people would kindly stop outbidding me on spring reverb units on eBay, I’ll get round to adding a bit of reverb to it…

Vinyl arrival

I’ve just been to the post office to pick up a package that I was expecting to be some relief printing inks I ordered recently, but to my surprise the guy at the Post Office came out with a vinyl-shaped box… Here it is! This is how the new album looks on vinyl. The first time I’ve ever had music put onto vinyl (…a teenage ambition fulfilled). I can’t stop holding it. The design is mine. The photo of the deer was taken on a very wet three day hike in Scotland with a friend a couple of years ago. The blurring on the photo was from condensation in the camera. Thanks OE!

A hasty recording session

Hugo’s family went away for a week so we converted his basement into a studio again and gone through four songs really quickly. We did a couple like we used to in the old days, just turning up with a sketchy riff and a bunch of words and seeing where we go with it. The tape is packed away now though and the room is back to normal. The songs are almost forgotten until we can set up the tape and desk again.

Well it looks like we’ve finished mixing the new album. We are burning a disk and sending it tomorrow to Carl Saff who will be doing the mastering honours. Oh we have a name for the album too – ‘Feels, Feathers, Bog and Bees’. The artwork is nearly complete so I will put images on the site week.
